Mary was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on January 3, 1936, to Mary Ellen and John A. O’Connor. Mary was a proud graduate of Bishop Heelan Catholic High School. Her life was anchored by her deep love for God and her unwavering commitment to the Catholic Church, which served as her guiding light through all of life’s joys and challenges.
In 1960, Mary married Anthony Audino. Together, they navigated the highs and lows of life, including the heartbreaking loss of their infant son, Patrick Jon, in 1961. Mary’s strength was evident as she raised her four children with devotion and grace. Her greatest joy in later years was her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother; she leaves behind a legacy of love in her 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Beyond her home, Mary was known for her tireless work ethic and her sharp wit. She served as an office assistant for Dr. Gerry McGowan and as the office manager at Bekins. Many in the community also remember her as a dedicated independent sales representative for Avon, a role that allowed her to connect with neighbors and friends across the city.
Mary is survived by her loving children: Michael (Jean), Suzanne Richardson, Matthew, and Kathleen Carelli; her 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony, their son, Patrick Jon, and grandson Johnathan.
Her legacy of faith, hard work, and family devotion will be forever cherished.
