Mary Helen Beaulieu, 75 of Hinton, IA passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 24, 2023 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. Bruce Lawler will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ellendale, IA. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mary was born June 10, 1947 in Sac City, IA; she was the daughter of Amos and Ruth (Shreve) Johnson. Mary attended Sac City Community School for Elementary School and Middle School. In 1965, she moved to Gowrie with her mom and graduated from Prairie Community School in Gowrie, IA. Mary attended NBT from 1966 to 1967 and then graduated from Western Iowa Tech as a medical transcriptionist in 2005.
On August 10, 1968, Mary married Richard Beaulieu at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City, IA. After the marriage, they lived in several cities while Dick served in the Army.
Mary worked at KCAU in Sioux City right after graduation until 1969. She was self employed with Dick when the boys were young. Mary ran Mary’s Movies in Leeds and Hinton. She was the first lady of Hinton for several years as Dick was mayor. Mary’s goals in life were to spoil her three granddaughters the most she could. She would start shopping for them in the summer for Christmas presents.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Dick Beaulieu of Hinton, IA; her three sons: Jeff and Gwen Beaulieu of Hinton, IA, Chris and Rani Beaulieu of Omaha, NE and Mike and Deborah (Susie) Beaulieu of Sioux City, IA; three granddaughters: Marissa Beaulieu of Omaha, NE, Mikayla Beaulieu of Omaha, NE and Brooke Beaulieu of Sioux City.
Mary was preceded in death by her mom Ruth Shreve Johnson, her dad Amos Johnson, her brother Dean Johnson, her sister Ann Magennis, brother-in-law Jim Magennis
