It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Mary Ann (Redmond) Audino, who left us peacefully at the age of 87 surrounded by family, on September 4, 2024. She waged a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. Her life was filled with love, laughter and faith.
Mary Ann’s Celebration of Life will begin with a Rosary on Sunday, September 22, 7:00 p.m. at Country Celebrations, 5606 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51108. The family will arrive at 6:00 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann is Monday, September 23, 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Roger Linnan officiating at Holy Cross St. Michael Church. The Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon following at the parish hall.
Born on April 19, 1937, to James and Rachael (Lamoureux) Redmond, the eldest daughter of nine children, Mary Ann attended Epiphany Elementary School and Bishop Heelan High School. She married her husband, Frank Audino, on February 15, 1958 and together they created a beautiful family with seven children. She joined him in the management of River Heights Apartments which provided affordable rental housing to many families. Her support and encouragement helped Frank start his own construction company. They enjoyed many years traveling with friends and visiting family.
Mary Ann had a passion for golf, a sport she enjoyed throughout her life. She was especially proud of her hole-in-one at Sun Valley Golf Course. Her love for the game was matched only by her entertaining. She enjoyed playing Bunco, Bridge, Mahjong and Shanghai. She always enjoyed a good competition, and she loved to win. Mary Ann was known for her gracious hospitality. Her children coined the phrase, “company perfect,” due to her high expectations for setting an elegant dinner table, pressing pats of butter into flowers, and folding the toilet paper into a triangle. Her luncheons were legendary for style and panache, her parties were memorable with loud booming voices of laughter into the late night hours. She was our hostess with the mostest. Mary Ann enjoyed the finer things in life; a three finger deep, dry gin martini with olives, Waterford Crystal, designer shoes with matching handbags and lipstick, Estee Lauder Beautiful and her 1973 Buick Centurion convertible. Her favorite color was pink as were the decorations on her Christmas tree. A plaque hung in her kitchen that read, “Pink isn’t a color, it’s an attitude!”
A faithful Catholic, Mary Ann was a dedicated member of her parish and played an integral role in establishing Birthright of Siouxland. Her volunteer efforts were many.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Audino and her son, Michael D. Audino, her parents, her brother Mike, sister-in-law Helen Redmond, brother-in-law Jim Riley and brothers Maurice and Rick.
She is survived by six children, Tony Audino (Michelle), Lisa Audino-Davisson (Joe Davisson), Angel Averman (Craig), David Audino (Erin), Nicole McDermott (Jason) and Rory Audino (Lindsey) and by grandchildren; AJ Audino, Morgan Audino, Michael Davisson, Ian & (Maggie) Averman, Katie LaPlante, Mackenzie Audino, Dani Audino, Tylor (Cassie) Audino, Alex Davisson (fiancée, Elise Emord), Keaton Averman (fiancée, Lauren Carlos), Riley Audino, Dominic Audino, Hayden Audino, Walker McDermott, Gia McDermott, Mila Audino and Landrie Audino Great grandchildren; Rachael Kobes, Mia Averman, Blakely Audino, Presley Audino; Siblings; Kathy Riley, Jim (Daphne) Redmond, Tom (Jan) Redmond, Susan (Bill) Craig, Patty Redmond and many nieces and nephews.
