Marvin L. Camerer Sr.

March 7, 1944 — October 21, 2025

How do you sum up a lifetime of memories and accomplishments in a few short paragraphs? Marvin Lee Camerer was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and great friend. He left this world at 81 years old on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the people who loved him most.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. with a time of sharing at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born to Ralph “Dempsey” Camerer and Marjorie (Morris) Camerer on March 7, 1944, in Sergeant Bluff, IA. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1962. He was hard working and had a work ethic to be admired. After graduating he worked many different jobs, including at a meat packing plant, a tour bus driver, trailer park owner, and car salesman for over 50 years.

He married Vicki Ruchti in 1964. Together, they had three children: Marv Jr., Mark, and Shelly. He met his second wife Maureen Weiler, in 1970 and they married in 1976. Together they had three children: Sarah, Coby, and Emilee.

You would often find Marv at his beloved car lot, Mid-City Motors, telling a story, and maybe having a beer in the back garage with friends. Marv loved spending time in his backyard gazebo overlooking the Missouri River, hosting 4th of July parties, watching rodeos, horse races (he owned some winners), and tractor pulls (he won many).

He is survived by the mothers of his children: Vicki Porter and Maureen Camerer whom he continued close relationships with for the rest of his life; children: Marvin (Tammy) Camerer Jr., Mark (Kelly) Camerer, Shelly Tracey (Brian), Sarah Scott (Eric), Coby Camerer (Amy) and Emilee (Rodney) Schroeder; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. As Dad would always say, “If it weren’t for me, none of you would be here.”

Marvin was proceeded in death by his father and mother, brothers Morris and Conmey Camerer and granddaughter Shelby Camerer. He is survived by his siblings Ronald and Cherri Kim Camerer.
