Marlon Ray “Red” Smith, 70 of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Patti Meyer officiating (opportunity to share memories will be available during the service). Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation, with the family present, will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, prior to the Service. Red was born on November 30, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa to John D. and Frances B. (Heath) Smith. He received his education from Hinton High School, in Hinton, Iowa. He will be remembered for this kindness and generosity. Red retired from working from the packing house industry. Regardless of what Red did, he was the boss! If there was work to be done, Marlon was always there to help. His life changed dramatically when he lost the love-of-his-life Cindy Mohr due to her death.
Red is survived by his son Brent Smith of Sioux City, son Brian (Shannon) Smith of Lawton, Iowa, and daughter Marla (Tim) Keller of Cherokee, Iowa; grandchildren: Xavier, Carson, Conner, Reina, Brenna, and Kane; mother Frances Smith of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; siblings twin sister Marcella (Charles) Salmen of Sioux City, brothers David (Cindy) Smith of Hinton, Iowa, Rick (Sue) Smith of Hinton, Iowa, and Marlow (Rexann) Smith of Sioux City, sisters Kathy (Dr. Mark) Hagen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Renita (Terry) Uhl of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Red was preceded in death by his father, brother Roger Smith, and companion Cindy.
