Marlene Ransom

Marlene Marie Ransom (Munson) of Sioux City Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on April 2nd, 2025 with her family by her side. 

Marlene was born on February 11, 1953, to Lyle and Patricia Munson of Sioux City Iowa. She attended Sioux City schools and upon graduation she worked as a CNA at St Joseph's Hospital from 1970-1972. She married Ron Ransom on August 21st, 1972. Together they have 2 sons, Christopher and Matthew Ranson. 

Marlene loved to shop at thrift stores and flea markets. She was an avid animal lover and loved any wall hanging that had a collie in it. She also was an amazing decorator and cook. She had a huge Bunny and Cardinal collection. Her favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs. She would tell you her greatest accomplishment was being a mom. She loved her boys very much. 

She is leaving behind a sister, Lesa (Ed) Babitke, sister, Patti (Dan) Marsh, brother, Stephen Munson and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and a great niece. Also, 3 very good friends, Joanne Godlevsky, Jane Mongensen, and Julie Koson whom she considered her ‘other sisters.

 She is proceeded in death by her husband Ron, her mother and her father, Pat and Lyle. Mother and father-in-law, Ronald and Geraldine. brother Jerry, brother James and a sister Carol. Cards can be sent to Meyer Brother Funeral home on Hamilton Blvd.
