Marilou Rude, 91, of Sioux City, passed away, January 10, 2021 surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 14 at 11:00 A.M. at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, IA. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is handling the arrangements. Marilou was born on February 18, 1929 in Rembrandt, IA to Fred and Sylvia (Medlicott) Gaes. After graduating high school, she went on to attend cosmetology school. She was united in marriage to Dale Rude on March 12, 1950 in Storm Lake, IA. Together they enjoyed 70 years of marriage. She was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church for 58 years. Marilou loved to play bridge, and belonged to numerous bridge clubs. She was also on bowling teams and played golf. She was an avid reader. Her and Dale bought and sold antiques for 30 years. They enjoyed traveling to auctions and tag sales. Through the years, Marilou volunteered with many charities and was always available to give a helping hand.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Dale Rude, Sioux City; Daughters: Diane May, Ferndale, WA, and Robin Redmond, Winston, OR; 1 grandchild, Lauren Pena, Ferndale, WA; 2 great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Owen; brother, James Gaes, Storm Lake, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Raymond and Fred Gaes Jr.; sisters: Jeanette Gaes, Leone Buchholz, and Betty Jean Petersen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Sioux City, IA.
