Margaret Patricia Mari, 89 of Jackson, Nebraska passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Holy Spirit Nursing Home in Sioux City, Iowa. A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery following her Celebration of Life. 

Pat was born the daughter of John and Mildred (Ryan) Lynch on March 8,1935 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Heelan High School in 1953 and then attended x-ray school at St. Vincent Hospital in Sioux City. She then took a job in Sterling, Colorado where she met her husband, Edward. They were married on April 27,1957 in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1960 they moved back to Jackson, where they raised their family. 

Pat worked as an x-ray technician for Dr. Horst then at Family Practice in Sioux City for many years before finally retiring in 1998.

She was an avid sports fan and loved to watch all sports but especially Nebraska Volleyball.  She enjoyed playing bingo and going to casinos with her friends and family, as well as traveling and occasional road trips to Texas to visit her brother. After retirement she started taking quilting classes and made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, watching her birds and squirrels, visiting with friends, and helped with planning, cooking, and serving lunch to the elderly in Jackson.

Pat is survived by her husband, Edward Mari of Jackson; children, Gene (Tami) Mari of South Sioux City, Joe (Sandy) Mari of Jackson, Joan (Jim) Koser of Sioux City, Mona (Wade) Reid of Jackson, and Bob (Robin) Mari of Jackson; siblings, Catherine Hohenstein, Gene (Naomi) Lynch, Tom (Jeannie) Lynch, Jim (Marlene) Lynch, Cedie (Earl) Bogard, and Millie (Joe) Gill; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John; niece, Kathy Hohenstein; brother-in-law, Mick Hohenstein; sister-in-law, Ottie Lynch; and special family friend, Sam Chadwick.
