Marcia C. Pruehs

Marcia C. Pruehs, 84, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022.  A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Mater Dei Parish Immaculate Conception Church. 

Marcia was born the daughter of Dewit and Margaret (Mortensen) Cox on September 22, 1938 in Oto, Iowa. She married Richard E. “Dick” Pruehs on December 28, 1985 in Sioux City. A few of Marcia’s greatest achievements in life include raising and caring for her large family. She cherished time well spent with her children and grandchildren, which included attending many events and cooking birthday dinners. She enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings and was known for cooking the best food– and even better pie. Marcia enjoyed playing cards, reading, golf, traveling internationally, and was a faithful Hawkeyes fan.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to Mater Dei Parish or the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.

Marcia is survived by her husband, Dick Pruehs of Sioux City, IA; children, Randy (Teresa) Worrell of Sioux City, IA, Rick (Erika) Worrell of Sioux City, IA, Julie (Richard) Baxter of Algona, IA, Susie (Joe) Baxter of Linn Grove, IA, Dave (Amy) Worrell of Sioux City, IA, Brent (Lori) Pruehs of Sioux City, IA, Lori (Dan) Kaiser of St. Pete Beach, FL, and Erin (Martin) Oliver of Woodstock, GA; sisters, Norma Coon of Sioux City, IA and Judy (Dean) Specht of Yankton, SD; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lavonne and Virginia; and first husband, Richard Worrell.
