Lyle D. Hartz, 93 of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of rural Hinton, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Randy Hartz officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Lyle was born on April 23, 1932, in Sioux City, Iowa to Carl and Marie (Harrington) Hartz. He served in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954. Lyle was a farmer, north of Lawton, Iowa until his retirement.
Lyle married Frances M. Chesley on June 17, 1956, in Sloan, Iowa, and to this union, four children were born. Raising his children on the farm, he instilled excellent work ethic for his family, although proud of his agricultural career, Lyle’s greatest joy was every member of his family. Lyle enjoyed listening to his wife play the piano.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons Ron (Deb) Hartz of Omaha, Nebraska, Ed (Mindy) Hartz of Hinton, Iowa; daughters Cindy (Jon) Spray of Wylie, Texas, and Kathy Bledsoe of Sioux City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Heath; stepbrother Vernon (Linda) Brice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances in 2020, brother Ken Hartz, nephew Dennis Hartz, brother-in-law Charles Heath, Jr., his daughter-in-law Laurie Hartz, and stepbrother Melvin Brice.
