Lyle E. Carnes

Lyle E. Carnes, 93 of Sioux City passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 9, 2023 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Lyle was born the son of Ed and Jenny (Pittman) Carnes on May 21, 1930 in Onawa, Iowa where he attended school through the 8th grade. He then started working on the family farm. Lyle married Shirley M. Clark on March 9, 1956 in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City. Shirley passed away in 2012. 

He worked for Klinger Construction, Wilson Trailer, and Metz Baking Co. He was also self-employed doing concrete work for several years. 

He enjoyed gambling, coffee with his buddies, and working on projects. He also loved spending time with his family and grandkids. 

Lyle is survived by his children, Paul (Deana) Carnes of Sioux City, IA and Linda (Brian) Sidie-Wales of Monroe, IA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Gwen Plantz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; son, Joe; and brothers, Roy, Ed, Howard, and Rex.
