Lowell was born September 19, 1934 in Ponca, Nebraska, the son of Clarence and Gertrude (Bailey) Stading.  He graduated from Ponca High School in 1952.  Lowell married Marliss Etchison on March 2, 1957 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa.  To this union, a daughter Sheri was born.

After high school, Lowell started woodworking for Curtis Sash and Door in Sioux City, Iowa.  In June of 1957, Lowell was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Crailhemn, Germany.  He was honorably discharged in May of 1959 and returned home and continued to woodwork with Curtis Sash and Door and National Woodwork Company for a short time.  Lowell then returned to the family farm and farmed the homestead until retirement.  After retirement, Lowell worked for Ponca State Park.

Lowell loved being outdoors whether it was farming, his own yard work, or simply enjoying the birds.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandgirls and helping Sheri with jobs around her home. Lowell was a member of the Ponca Township Board and a member of Salem Lutheran Church where he was a council member.

Survivors include his wife Marliss Stading of Ponca, NE; daughter Sheri (Vern) Landeen of Canton, SD; granddaughters:  Stephanie (Sterling) Harris of Tucson, AZ and Natasha (Matt) Scherber of Willmar, MN; one great granddaughter August Harris; brother Donald Stading of Cape Coral, FL; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Gertrude Stading and a nephew Scott Stading.
