Louise E. Moreland

Louise E. Moreland, 92, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022.  A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Augustana Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery.  

Louise was born the daughter of Nils J. W. “Walt” and Florence (Forsling) Jacobson on June 28, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa.  She graduated from Central High School in 1948.  Louise married Meryle Moreland June 23, 1951. 

She worked most of her career at Younker – Davidson’s and retired as the manager of the linen, crystal, and china department.

In her retirement she enjoyed a full, wonderful life of family, friends, and church.  She was a lifelong active member of Augustana Lutheran Church. 

Louise is survived by her son, Michael (Mari) Moreland of Sioux City; grandchildren, Jacob (Erica) Moreland and Andrew (Junilda “Juni” Mateli) Moreland; and great-grandchildren, Ravi Moreland, Sean Leonard, Nia Louise Mateli-Moreland, and Martha Mateli-Moreland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Meryle; and first daughter-in-law, Martha.

The family wants to thank her many friends and neighbors for their kindness and caring over the years – you enriched her life immensely.  A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Accura Healthcare.  She entered as a patient a year ago, and left with many new friends and tears shed.
