Loretta Ellen
Hodges-Sanders
April 4, 1956 – April 2, 2026
Loretta Ellen Hodges-Sanders, a beacon of love, laughter, and boundless generosity, passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 2, 2026, just shy of her 70th birthday. Born on April 4, 1956, in Sioux City, lowa, Loretta's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with laughter, love, and a relentless spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
The daughter of Keith and Nora Hodges, Loretta was raised in a home filled with warmth and kindness, values she carried with her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her beloved grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, her cherished son, and a grandson, whose memories she held close to her heart.
A woman of unwavering strength and boundless compassion, Loretta was known for always walking a road of the unknown with courage and an open heart. She was the first to offer help to those in need, regardless of the circumstance, embodying a spirit of giving that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Loretta's love for life was evident in her many passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of cooking, crafting meals that brought her family together. A voracious reader, she delighted in losing herself in the pages of a good book. Her heart was especially tender toward babies, and she found immense joy in spending time with her large and loving family. Her home was a sanctuary filled with the sounds of music and laughter, often accompanied by the playful antics of her beloved cats.
An ardent traveler, Loretta embraced the world with open arms, creating memories that spanned continents. Her love for the Dallas Cowboys was legendary, a testament to her loyalty and passion.
Her spirit was goofy and pleasant, her laughter infectious, and her love profound.
Loretta leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted daughters, her cherished brothers and sisters, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly. Her ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren were the lights of her life, each one holding a special place in her heart.
In honoring Loretta's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing family and close friends to celebrate her life in a setting as intimate and loving as the bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
While the world feels a little dimmer without her, Loretta's spirit shines brightly in the hearts of those she loved. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, the strength of family, and the enduring impact of a generous heart. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we carry forward her legacy, forever inspired by her love and laughter.
