Lola Maxine “Tootie” Johnson, 95, of South Sioux City, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Per Tootie’s request, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Tootie was born on April 13, 1929, in Sioux City, the daughter of Fred John Jackson and Leone Eloise (Morehead) Rea. She graduated from Central High School. In 1948, Tootie married Wayne Massey, and they shared five sons and one daughter. On February 12, 1960, Tootie married Duane William Johnson, and the couple had two daughters.
Tottie worked at People’s Furniture for most of her life and was an avid reader.
Tootie is survived by her children: Steven Massey, Gary Massey, and Vicki Massey, Jodi (Johnson) Rahn and Kim Johnson all of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; brothers: Denny Rae of South Sioux City and Dicky Rae of Onawa, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons: Willam Massey, Douglas Massey, and Randy Massey, grandson Jessi Marshall, granddaughter Freedom Jansen Massey, great granddaughter Mickey Lynn Ehlers, baby brother Darrell, and sisters: Cheral, Carroll, and Lila.
