Obituary

Lola Bloyer, 80, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, May 21st, 2026 at a Sioux City Nursing Home. Interment for both Lola and her Husband Jim (who passed away in 2017), will be held at 10:30 A.M. on May 30th at the Schaller Cemetery. 

Lola was born March 18th, 1946, in Charter Oak, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Lois (Carlson) Adams. Where she joined her sister's Reta and Karen and later, they were joined by their brother Ardell. Lola grew up on a dairy farm. She enjoyed working beside her father and showing her 4H animals. She graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School then worked at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll, IA. She married Jerry Dungan and through their union she was blessed with a son Rusty and a daughter Robin. Lola and her family resided for some time in Schaller, Iowa where she provided day care for many children. She married Jim Bloyer on August 16, 1985, in Denison, IA. Lola worked as the manager for Tallview Terrace for 28 years beside her best friend and husband Jim. She was a member of the Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church in Sioux City, Iowa.

Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren. Lola is survived by her; children: Rusty (Adriana) Dungan, Robin (Gene) Edwards, stepson Tracy “Jake” (Jennifer) Sanders and family, and stepdaughter Amanda Aspholm and family. The lights of her life, were her grandchildren: Jessica, Tamera, Alan, Ozzy, and great grandson Cyrus; sister in laws: Julie (Loren) Fiedler, and Janet Bloyer; brother in laws Jerry (Demaris) Bloyer, Jay Bloyer; many nieces and nephews; Troy Bloyer who was so special to both Lola and Jim; her adopted family Lamgnai Akanhay (wife and children); special friends Theresa (Brad) and Brayden Bollinger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Reta and Karen, brother Ardell, sister-in-law Judy, sister-in-law Melda, and mother-in-law Mary.

"Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that’s the way I’ll remember you all. 

If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all."
