Lois Jean Pierce, 68, passed away at her home in Ponca, Nebraska on August 9, 2023.  While she was known as Lois by many, her family knew her as Jean..  A Celebration of Life will be from 5PM to 7PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Nebraska.  Burial will be held at a later date at Charter Oak Cemetery in Charter Oak, Iowa. The family requests casual wear as Jean would want everyone to be comfortable.

She was born January 13, 1955, in Denison, Iowa to Dale and Marie (Hall) Pierce.  She was the youngest of four children.  She attended Charter Oak – Ute schools and graduated high school in 1973.

After graduation she attended Western Iowa Tech.  She started working as a secretary for Qualley Law Office in 1976.  In August 1984, she started working for Updegraff Law Office and worked there full-time until October 1994, when she went to work for the Boys and Girls Home in Sioux City.  She left the Boys and Girls Home about 2010.  Starting in 1999, she worked part-time from home for Updegraff Law Office until her death.

She enjoyed working on various crafts, skiing, traveling, and fishing.

Survivors include her brother and his wife, Charles & Delores Pierce of Battle Creek, Iowa, Sister-in-law, Camilla Pierce of Odebolt, Iowa, nephews, David (Tanya) Pierce, James (Beth) Pierce, Brian Pierce, Nick Pierce all of Odebolt, Iowa, Chris (Kelli) Pierce of Akron, Iowa, Mike Pierce of Ponca, Nebraska, Grant Pierce of Battle Creek, Iowa and niece, Kathy Pierce of Battle Creek, Iowa, and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dale & Marie (Hall) Pierce, a sister Marjorie Pierce, and a brother, Roger Pierce.
