Lieselotte "Lottie" Johnson

August 30, 1927 — September 29, 2020

Lieselotte “Lottie” Johnson, 93, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at a Remsen Care Center.

Services will be livestreamed at calvaryleeds.com and broadcast via 106.1 in the Calvary Lutheran Church parking lot at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2020.  Visitation will be held one-hour prior in the church.  For the visitation, the family requests all attendees wear a mask and social distancing will be observed.  Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Lottie was born August 30, 1927 in Lampertheim, Germany the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Frank) Kettler.  During WWII, Lottie had to quit school in the 7th grade to work in the fields, picking tobacco.  She married William E. Johnson on March 18, 1960 in Lampertheim, Germany.  To this union four children were born.  William preceded Lottie in death on August 12, 1997 in Sioux City. 

Lottie was an avid cook and baker and enjoyed crocheting and gardening.  She was a dedicated walker, walking a mile every day.  Lottie was a kind soul and made friends wherever she went.  She was a member of Calvary Lutheran and donated many items she crocheted and baked. 

Survivors include her children:  John (Carol) Johnson of Omaha, NE, Anna Salem of Sioux City, and Diana Forest of Palm Springs, CA; four grandchildren:  Samantha Salem, Aaron (Kristen) Johnson, Thomas Forest, and Christia Forest; one great grandchild:  Avery Johnson; and two sisters:  Anneliese Horstfeld and Margot Prinz of Lampertheim, Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, son Thomas L. Johnson, and a brother Friedrich “Fritz” Kettler. 

In lieu of flower, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association in Lottie's memory.
