Leroy E. Hoesing

Leroy E. Hoesing, 79 of Newcastle passed away Monday, October 21, 2024. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all held at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery Newcastle. 

Leroy was born the son of Richard and Emma (Pansegrau) Hoesing on February 21, 1945 in Kingsville, Texas. He graduated from Newcastle Public Schools and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Leroy married Helen Taylor on August 27, 1966 in Newcastle. After their marriage, they lived in Lincoln for a brief time, then moved to Sioux City. In 1974, they returned to Newcastle. Helen passed away in 2009. 

Leroy farmed and worked for Wilson Trailer for 42 years as a maintenance supervisor. 

He enjoyed boating, spending time with family, camping, and woodworking. He was active in the church and being a part of the community. He also loved traveling and taking long road trips. One of his favorite trips was an Alaskan cruise he took with his wife Helen. In his later years he took great pride in mowing and maintaining his lawn.

Leroy is survived by his children, Eric (Paula) of Seattle, WA, David of Newcastle, NE, Christopher (Kristin) of Columbus, NE, and Jennifer (Matt) Burcham, of Elkhorn, NE; grandchildren, Alexis, Devin, Kalista, Tristin, Anastin, Carter, Isaac, Kendall, and Nolan; and siblings, Paula (Gary) Bender, Patricia Raines, Warren (Glenda) Hoesing, and Rhonda (Kenny) Kuchta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; and brother, Howard.
