Leo H. Stoos

Leo H. Stoos, 72 of Hinton, IA passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at a Sioux City hospital following a long illness.

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. David Hemann will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Leo was born July 19, 1950 in Remsen, IA; he was the son of Henry and Margaret (Gollhofer) Stoos. Leo grew up in Remsen and graduated from Remsen-Union High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy on a nuclear submarine that was based in Hawaii during the Vietnam Conflict.

On May 23, 1987, Leo married Thersa “Terri” Murphy.

Leo was the paving superintendent for Concrete Specialty for many years. He enjoyed golfing, spending time at the Hard Rock and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Terri of Hinton, IA; his son: Phillip Bockholt (Tracia) of Sioux City; his brothers and sister: Stan Stoos (Rosie) of Pensacola, FL, Larry Stoos (Cindy) of Remsen, IA, Bob Stoos (Deidre) of Mesa, AZ, La Nette Nacke (Tom) of Remsen, IA, Dean Stoos (Linda) of South Sioux City, NE, Randy Stoos (Mary) of Remsen, and Doug Stoos of Remsen, IA; 11 grandchildren, a sister-in-law Sue Stoos of Remsen, IA and many nieces and nephews.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Elizabeth Bockholt, his brother Richard Stoos, nephews; Keith and Mike Stoos, a sister in law Joyce Worth and a niece Bev Stoos.
