Lee Thomas Fischer, 52, of Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2024, at his residence.
A Visitation with family present for Lee will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 7, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Lee was born on April 2, 1972, in Kendallville, Indiana, the son of Monte and Eva (Clark) Fischer. He graduated from West High School in 1990.
He is remembered as a dedicated carpenter and welder, with a notable career at various companies that included serving as a supervisor at Phillip Kiln. Lee was passionate about his work, which allowed him to express his creativity through woodworking carpentry projects and he relished the joy of helping his nieces and nephews with their Pinewood Derby Cars.
Lee possessed a diverse array of interests. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, and he took great pleasure in driving around in his cherished Dodge Challenger. He loved his family and was a beloved father and grandfather.
His commitment to his country was exemplified by his four years in the United States Army, being honorably discharged in 1993 and his role as Past President of the VFW, Sergeant Floyd Post 1973, a position that highlighted his devotion to honoring and supporting fellow veterans.
Lee is survived by his mother, Eva Sample; his children, Kristen McDonald (Barry Arends), Jeremiah Peterson, and Joseph Peterson; and his grandchildren, Dominick Arends and Damien Arends. He is also survived by his brothers, Greg (Keri) Sample and Bob (Pam) Sample; his sister, Kasey Fischer; and brother-in-law, Jim Nieuwendorp. Lee was further blessed with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Monte E. Fischer; stepfather, Russell Sample; and sister, Tina Nieuwendorp.
Lee Thomas Fischer's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created with family and friends.
