Leanna R. Taubert

Leanna "Peeper" R. Taubert, 77 of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025. A graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 27, 2025 at Heisler Cemetery in rural Mapleton, Iowa. 

Leanna was born the daughter of Wilbur and Darlene (Etchison) Dean on September 17, 1947 in Mapleton, Iowa. She graduated from Central High School in 1965. She married James Ludwig in June of 1966 in Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple later divorced.

She worked as a florist for many years and also was a school lunch lady for the Sioux City schools.

Leanna was very passionate about flowers. She was a straight shooter, never afraid to voice her opinion, and she always said what she thought. She enjoyed writing poetry and sharing her strong faith in God and the promise of Jesus. In her later years, spending time with her animals brought her great joy. She was never without at least one dog or cat.

Leanna is survived by her children, Nicole (Bill) Hinkel, Amanda Boyle, and Christian Townsley; grandchildren, Cole (Lisa), Ethan, Skyler (Sadie), Elizabeth, and Erin; great-grandchildren Nora, Daphne, and Shane; and sister, Debbie Dean.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
