Lawrence "Larry" W. Little, 74, passed away on May 25, 2024, in Sioux City, IA. He was born on July 22, 1949, in the same city where he spent his entire life.
He dedicated himself to a life of service, starting with his service in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served from September 1968 to June 1970 before receiving an honorable discharge. One of his proudest memories during his time in the Navy was serving on the ship that retrieved the capsule from the failed Apollo 13 mission. After his military service, Larry embarked on a fulfilling career that spanned over three decades at Head Start Program. His passion for helping others led him to excel in his role as the Family Service Director until his retirement in August of 2011.
A graduate of Heelan High School with the Class of 1968, Larry used his knowledge to positively impact those around him. His dedication to his work was unwavering, but it was his family that truly held a special place in his heart. Family meant everything to Larry, and his unwavering love and support enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Outside of work and family, Larry found joy in simple pleasures such as golf and cheering for his favorite sports teams. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
His passing, attributed to long-term health issues related to diabetes, leaves a void in the hearts of many who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. In addition to a wide circle of friends who mourn Larry's departure from this world, he is survived by several loving family members who will continue to carry on his legacy.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Lou Little; his wife, Vicki Little; and younger sister, Karen Foster. He is survived by his son Russell Little and wife Mari of Sioux City, IA; son Donald Little of Sioux City; daughter Stacy Scott and husband Will of Crandall, TX; daughter Brenda Garcia and husband Tony of Dakota City, NE; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister Gertrude Gee of Sioux City, IA; and one brother Don Little and wife Cecelia of Salado, TX.
One of Larry's proudest accomplishments was witnessing the achievements and milestones of his grandchildren while supporting them wholeheartedly in their endeavors. His spirit lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him best.
