LaVon Ranae (Jors) Stroh, 63, of Sioux City, IA passed away on June 5, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m.
She was born January 28, 1961 in Des Moines, IA as the eldest daughter of Arthur and Rose (Wade) Jors. LaVon graduated from Saydel High School in 1979 and began working for Principal Financial Group. She later finished her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology from Morningside College.
LaVon was blessed with two children, Joe and Miranda, and was a devoted mother that made everyday moments special. In 1990, she had a whirlwind romance with Jim Stroh and they married on May 20, 1990. LaVon loved animals, especially cats, and she saved the lives of countless animals in her lifetime. She was also passionate about crafts and antiques where she could always see the potential in things that were broken and unwanted, turning them into treasures. She adored spending time with her family and was a beloved “Nina” to her four grandchildren.
LaVon is survived by her husband, Jim of Sioux City, IA; son Joe Heyer and Isa of Gatineau, Canada and their son Gabriel; daughter Miranda Little and Clint of Louisville, NE and their children Easton, Aiden, and Raleigh; brothers Jeff and Bill; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and numerous cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, older infant brother Wade, and many animals that she cared for through the end of their life.
