Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Lauri J. Krause passed away on April 8th, 2026, after a difficult battle with ALS. Lauri was hospitalized for 1 week before returning home under hospice care to her husband Dan and best friend Benji (her dog). She was surrounded by the love of her family and dog Benji at the time of her passing.

Lauri was born on September 28th, 1960, to Carl W. Weil and Marlene Weil in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in 1979. After meeting at WIT, Lauri and Dan Krause married on May 30th of 1981. Although they actually met when they were born as they were only born one day apart at the same hospital. Lauri and Dan were soul mates from the very beginning and were married for 44 amazing years.

Lauri graduated from WIT as a dental assistant in 1980. After working for Dr’s Fryer and Risk, she decided to become a homemaker and stay at home mother, while also raising fair pigs from 1992 to 1996. In 1999, she started her own business, BAKERMOM, where she made biscotti, muffins, scones, etc. for local businesses. Lauri then made the move with her family to Siloam Springs Arkansas from 2003 to 2005. After returning to Nebraska, she went right back to what she always loved best, cooking and baking. Lauri loved working at Oscar’s in Ponca and the trading post grocery store making homemade lunches and goodies for the Ponca Community.

Lauri loved her family more than anything in the world. She was loving and kind but also fought hard for the ones she loved when she needed to. She would always make sure everyone had what they wanted and needed, even if that meant she would go without. Lauri also loved playing video games such as Assassin’s Creed. Guitar Hero was another favorite of hers with her children. Plus, Nintendo 64’s Mario Cart and she always won. Another loved hobby by Lauri was camping and boating with her family for most of her adult life.

Lauri’s most cherished and proudest accomplishments were always her children and grandchildren, and she made it very well known.

Lauri is preceded in death by her father Carl W. Weil.

Remaining to cherish Lauri’s memory and traditions are her husband Dan, son Dale Krause and fiancé Emilie Jenks, mother Marlene Weil, daughter Rachel Mohr and husband Tyler, sister Carla Thiele and husband Tracy, brother Steve Weil and wife Julie; and 4 grandchildren; Noah Krause, Adeline Mohr, Everleigh Mohr, and Jett Mohr.
