Larry Dean Kunze

Larry Kunze, 76, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on April 17, 2023.  A funeral service will be held Friday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, IA.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Larry was born on February 17, 1947 in Ute, IA to Lawrence and Bernice (Lau) Kunze.  He grew up working on the farm as a child and moved to Sioux City after his dad passed away.  He graduated from Leeds High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Navy.  While in the Navy, he served on the submarine USS Sea Robin and was honorably discharged in 1970. He then began his 38 year career at Mid-American Energy. In 1968, Larry was united in marriage to Sandra Iverson for 54 years.  He enjoyed traveling to Arizona, going to the races, camping, 4-wheeling, fishing and spending time with his grandkids and granddogs. But most of all, Larry had a strong devotedness and love for his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sandra Kunze, Sioux City, IA; daughters: Christy and Robyn Kunze, both of Sioux City, IA; 4 grandchildren: Miranda, Blake, Brody and Carson; 3 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Ma’Leyah, and Lawrence; brothers: Rick Kunze, Cordes Lake, AZ, Robb Kunze, Morgan Hill, CA; and numerous cousins, nieces and a nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bernice and Lawernce Kunze; brother, Kim Kunze; and step-father, Homer Musgrove.
