Kevin Dean Wilson, 61, of South Sioux City, passed away on May 25, 2026, at a local hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at the funeral home.
Born on February 15, 1965, in Sioux City, the son of Arlyn and Virginia (Sweeney) Wilson, Kevin's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of joy, kindness, and a deep connection to those around him.
From his early years, Kevin was a vibrant soul whose laughter could light up any room. He attended elementary school at New Hope School, then Walker Island School, and graduated from Bryant School. His career spanned various roles dedicated to serving the community, notably his work at Region 4 - North Star Services. Kevin’s commitment to helping others was evident in every job he undertook, reflecting his genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those he met.
Kevin’s zest for life extended beyond his professional endeavors. Known for his love of music - Heaven gained a DJ. He adored dancing, often being the first to step onto the dance floor and the last to leave, captivating all with his infectious energy. His smile and laughter were a constant presence, embracing everyone as not strangers, but simply new friends waiting to be met. Among many joyful memories, his participation in the Special Olympics stands out as a testament to his courage, determination, and joyous spirit.
His warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Kevin is survived by his father, Arlyn Wilson of South Sioux City; his sister, Kristi (Matt) Montgomery of Dakota City, NE; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who cherished his friendship and companionship. He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Virginia Wilson, and his brother, Kurt Wilson.
