Kevin Collins, 49, of Sloan, IA passed away on July 30, 2020 at his home.
Memorial services will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and will also resume after the service until 7 p.m.
Kevin John Collins, the son of John and Vicki (Johnson) Collins, was born March 15, 1971 in Sioux City. Kevin was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High in 1989. After high school, he attended Morningside College in Sioux City. From 1990 to 1998, Kevin proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Munitions Specialist until his honorable discharge. He worked in sales at Gateway Computers and was known as “Fisher” within the company. Many still know him as Fisher to this day. For twelve years, Kevin worked as a business to business sales manager for Sprint.
Kevin was the proud father of two children: Austin John and Haley Jo. Kevin met and married the love of his life Shelly on July 7, 2017 and he embraced her three children Angela, Austin and Joshua into his family.
Kevin was baptized at Hope Lutheran Church and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church, which led to a strong faith that he carried throughout his life. Kevin loved his wife, children and family unconditionally. They were everything to him and spending time with Shelly was the best part of his day. He cherished his time helping his Dad rebuild the old GMC pickup. Kevin was always the Life of The Party and had a quick wit. Nobody left his company without a smile on their face. He was a self-taught musician who enjoyed playing the harmonica, guitar and loved singing.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Shelly; five children: Austin John Collins, Haley Jo Collins, Angela Kreger, Austin Lohse and Joshua Miller (Alesha Hill); grandchildren: Coda, Case, Cadin, Bennie, Brennen and Ashlyn; parents, John and Vicki Collins; three sisters: Karla (Rick) Bohle, Rhonda (Ryan) Meyers and Lori Knox; mother-in-law, Sheryl Jones and many beloved nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; other relatives and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Kenneth and Annabelle Johnson and Francis and Marie Collins; and his father-in-law, William Roberts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kevin’s family.
