Kenneth "Kenny" Lynn Strickland

March 11, 1960 — November 4, 2024

Sioux City, Iowa

Kenneth Lynn Strickland, affectionately known as "Kenny", passed away on November 4, 2024, in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 64. Kenny, the son of Kenneth and Patricia (Erichsen) Shepherd, was born on March 11, 1960, in Salt Lake City, Utah and at an early age was adopted by John Strickland. Kenny was raised in Red Oak, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska, where he cultivated a spirited personality characterized by his straightforward nature and delightful sense of humor. He attended school in South Sioux City, Nebraska, and completed his education while proudly serving in the United States Army from 1978 to 1987. Kenny cherished his time in Germany during his military service and returned home to Sioux City following his honorable discharge.

Kenny's professional journey included several years working at Triland Foods and later at McDonald's, where he contributed his talents until health issues compelled him to retire. A rock for his family, he possessed a stubborn streak and was known for speaking his mind without reservation, qualities that endeared him to those around him.

On October 16, 1992, Kenny was united in marriage to Beth Murdock in Elk Point, South Dakota.

His interests were as varied as his vibrant personality; Kenny had a passion for traveling and was an avid fan of football, NASCAR, and wrestling. However, his most cherished moments were spent in the company of his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Beth; children: Destiny Strickland (Frank Hazard), David Murdock, and Jennifer Hopkins. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bella, Max, and Michelle Hazard, along with Andrew, Jacob, and Sammy Hopkins. Other family members include his sister, Sherrie Cunningham (Bill), and his niece, Amanda Winkler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Penny Moorehouse; and a nephew, Shawn Moorehouse.

Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with Kenny's cremation and a Celebration of Life is pending.
