Kelli was born on July 28, 1969 in Sioux City, Iowa at St. Vincent Hospital to Robert J. and Sharon I. (Davis) Thoma. She received her education at North High School and graduated in 1987. She worked as a veterinary technician at South Sioux City Animal Hospital before attending Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Kelli went on to work at South Sioux City Animal Hospital as a doctor.
Kelli loved each and every one of her patients. However, she loved her Doberman, Satin, and her cats Oreo, Pixel, and Fat Ass (Doby) dearly. Later on, Kelli went to work for various other employers.
