Keith was born on March 8, 1960, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated in 1978 from East High School in Sioux City and went on to attend Buena Vista College. On May 15, 1982, Keith married the love of his life, Eileen, in Albion, Nebraska.
He worked as a carpenter for the State of Iowa at the 185th Air Refueling Wing. Before that, he honed his craft with John Small Contracting, where his meticulous eye for detail and insistence on doing things “the right way” became his trademark.
Keith was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church and gave countless hours to the community as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 208, mentoring and guiding young scouts over the years. Keith enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing, when time away from coaching and teaching his children allowed. Of all his accomplishments and roles in life, the title he cherished most was “Papa.” His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment with them.
Keith is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eileen; his children David (Tiffany) Hansen and Alison (Conner) Juilfs; and his grandchildren Whitlee Hansen, Langley Hansen, Pierce Hansen, Miles Juilfs, and Amelia Juilfs. He is also survived by his siblings Linda (Greg) Puttmann, Paul Hansen, Brian (Tina) Hansen, Susan (Rick) Stoulil; sister-in-law Lori Hansen; and siblings-in-law Ray, Margaret, Janice, Leona, Vincent, Debbie, Ben, Susan, and Ron; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Farrell and Lyall Hansen; parents-in-law, Leo and Monica Hoefler; brother, Alan Hansen; brother-in-law, Michael Sattizahn; sister-in-law, Dianne Horsley; nephew, Christopher Hansen; and niece, Carolyn Stoulil.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Croix Hospice and the June E. Nylen Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support.
