Kay A. Rice

   Kay Ann Rice, 85, of South Sioux City, NE, peacefully departed from this world on the 10th of September 2023. Her passing is mourned deeply by her loved ones and all who knew her.

   Kay was born February 5th, 1938, in Iowa, daughter of Albert and Lillian (Crawford) Rhoads. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1954. Kay married David J. Rice in 1956 in Sioux City. Kay was known as the lively singer, ‘Kaye-O-Daye’, as part of the ‘Kaye and Tiny Duo’. Kay and David traveled throughout the Midwest entertaining audiences with their rhythmic drums and her sophisticated songs. They went on to have 2 children: David and Julie.

   After her singing career, Kay was a Parkette for the City of Sioux City and later as a cashier at a local parking ramp. She always had a cheerful smile for everyone she met. Kay was a true animal lover. She was a superhero for our furry friends, always on the lookout for animals in need of rescue. She had saved many animals throughout her life, including her cats Midgee and Georgie.

   Leaving behind cherished memories, Kay Rice is survived by her beloved daughter and son in law, Julie and Tim Konidas; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Rhoads, her father, Albert Rhoads, her sister, Judy Curry, her son, David A. Rice, her former husband, David J. Rice, her partner, Doug Dimick, and grandson, David L. Rice. Kay's presence will forever be missed by her family and friends.

   Private funeral services will be held at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of Kay may be directed to the Siouxland Humane Society.
