Obituary

Kathryn Ann (Bielski) Babb, known to everyone as Kate, of Sioux City, Iowa, entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Kate was born on April 18, 1962 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Betty and Marion Bielski. She was the second of five children and graduated from Sioux City East High School.

Kate poured her whole heart into the people around her. Her nieces and nephews, siblings, and friends — no one who knew Kate ever had to wonder whether they were loved. She was known by everyone she met for having the biggest heart in the room. She also had a gift for laughter. Kate could make anyone smile, and she did, in fact she usually had them laughing.

Kate loved going to the movies, a good dinner, rock and roll music, and she adored her cat, Boston. She also gave her time and care to animals through her work with the Sioux City Animal Adoption & Rescue Center — because a heart like Kate's doesn't stop at the people in the room. For years, she accompanied her mother Betty to Saturday evening mass.

Kate is survived by her special daughters, Daytona and Angel; siblings, Stephanie (Ronald) Rens of Sioux City, Roxane (Mike) Juza of Oahu, Hawaii, Bryan (Kaye) Bielski of Hurricane, UT, and Brent (Sue) Bielski of Omaha, NE; nieces, Ashley Schlag of New York, New York, Megan (Dan) Reel of Sioux City, Hannah Rens of Denver, Colorado, Dena Bielski of Sioux City, and Maya Bielski of Spirit Lake, Iowa; nephews, Ryan (Staci) Juza of San Carlos, California and Tyler Juza of Oahu, Hawaii; four great-nieces and nephews, Harrison, Charlotte, and Fredrick Reel, and Celeste Juza; and her aunt, Cookie (Bielski) Ober of Sioux City.

Kate was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Bielski, in 2023; her father, Marion Bielski, in 2013; her uncle, Jim Ober; and her cousin, Jamey Ober.

She leaves behind a family who will miss her every day — her laugh, her warmth, and the way she made everyone she loved feel like the most important person in the room.
