Obituary

Kathryn Ann “Kathi” Borrall, maiden name Leis, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2026, at the age of 77.

Kathi was born on January 29, 1949, in Waterbury, Nebraska. She graduated from South Sioux City High School and dedicated much of her life to helping others through her work as a social worker with the AID Center, later known as The Center for Siouxland. Through both her work and everyday life, Kathi was known for her caring heart, compassion, and willingness to help others whenever she could.

In 1991, Kathi’s life took a new chapter when she met Robert Kammerer. The two shared many wonderful years together until Robert’s passing in 2009.

Kathi had a passion for rummaging and searching for hidden treasures, always enjoying the excitement of finding something special. She also loved crocheting and spent countless hours making handmade items for family and friends. Whether spending time with loved ones or relaxing with a glass of iced tea, Kathi found joy in life’s simple moments and in the people she cared about most.

Kathi is survived by her children, Patti (John) Bopp of North Carolina, Jeff Borrall of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chad Borrall of Sioux City, Mike (Candace) Borrall of Sioux City, and Dr. Mindee (Eric) Swanson of Omaha, Nebraska; along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Veronica Leis; her parents; and Robert Kammerer.

Kathi will be remembered for her caring nature, independent spirit, and the kindness she showed to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In accordance with Kathi’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, her five children gathered together to go through her “treasures,” shared a meal, and spent time reminiscing about her life. It was a simple gathering that reflected Kathi’s preference for family, practicality, and togetherness.
