Katherine R. Anders, 70, of Sioux City, Iowa died Saturday, April 15, 2023 at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Reverend David Halaas officiating. Burial will follow at Ponca City Cemetery, Ponca, Nebraska. Visitation, with family present, will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20th at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service to follow. Kathy was born on June 13, 1952 in Hartington, Nebraska to Emil and Margaret (Pearson) Olson. She attended Ponca Community Schools, graduated in 1970 and later attended Stewarts School of Cosmetology. She has been a life-long resident of the Siouxland area. Kathy was employed as a hair stylist at the Sioux City JCPenney’s Store and assisted living facilities in Siouxland.
Kathy was an active member at First Lutheran Church. She involved herself with food pantry, choir, church committees, and groups.
Kathy was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years and served as Worthy Matron. She loved spending time with her friends and family, playing games, cards, and attending her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Jeff (Amber) Anders of Vermillion, South Dakota; granddaughters Alexis and Addison Anders of Vermillion; one great-grandchild Clara Nilles of Vermillion; brother Jon (Joanne) Olson of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; sister Kristine Bergstrom of Sioux City, Iowa; and thirteen nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George Olson, Robert “Bobby” Olson, and Merlin Olson, and nephew Tom Olson.
