Karty Asoma was born on April 3, 1960 in Chuuk, FSM. She moved with her husband, her children and their families, to Guam and then to Sioux City in 2015 until her passing on July 28, 2026.

Funeral services will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.

Karty’s magnetic personality attracted friends and families wherever she went. She led her life as a Christian and valued the sisterhood of Finanisis in Sioux City; devoted to being a woman of Her words and a woman of Christ. She was a notorious person and everyone has stories to tell and stories to keep to themselves as they are not fit to print. Children and grandchildren know her personally, knew her bright side, rain or shine. She was the standing pillar of our family and was loved by many. The day we lost her will be a reminder of what heartbreak means.

Her greatest accomplishment in her life was helping numerous relatives (sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) relocate to Guam and start their lives as independent workers and families. She was so committed to being the world’s luckiest grandmother; she practically raised most of her grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was seeing her daughters and only son raise their families. Her journey was not without struggles including her battle with dementia beginning months after losing her youngest daughter. She fought a hard battle but she was not alone; she had help from her eldest daughter and numerous family members who knew the struggles she was facing.

Karty is survived by her husband, Apisay S. Airam; son Jerry Jones (Rosalin Erinis); daughters Jonsina Suda (Retnick Suda), Janus Jones (Katson Karuo), Jerleen (Sitwik Rochon); grandchildren Austin, Justin (Deserin), Rentik, Chonsu, Redleen, Rekleen, Dorea, JJ, Rino (Jayleen), Jboy, Jenaynay (Ray), Kathleen, Jenyfa, Kayaleen, Daniel (Teny), Dellaria, Danisha, Danivia, Dbwo, Dolorosa, Jerson (Betty), Jerryann (Vince), Jerryko, Jerrme, Jerred, Jersalin, Jerison, Brianna, Branson, Bruno, Blesslyn; and her greatest blessings of all, her great-grandchildren Mayfaiahlei, Jerekiah, Neishiloh, Joraiah, Danson, Dson, Tomy, Donny, Rosaray; her brothers and sisters Kanteno, Kantesio, Kapier, Kathrin, Kolinda, Karemen, Kachie, Kisina, and Maryan.

She will now be welcomed in the gates of Heaven by her parents Yoichi Asoma and Mersi Sakate; parents-in-law Swingly and Miner Airam; youngest daughter who is also buried here in Sioux City, Dolores Jones; sisters Christina and Kintina; brothers Anton, Kirino, and Kasiano.
