Judy Ann Stork, 70 of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Jeremy Wind as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hubbard, Nebraska.  Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday at the church before the service.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Trinity Heights Queen of Peace Shrine, 2511 33rd Street, Sioux City, Iowa 51108.

Judy was born on May 16, 1953 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Nellie (Baker) Schulte.  She graduated from Central Lyon High School with the Class of 1970, then went to the Medical Institute of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she received Medical Secretary/Laboratory Assistant Certification with Honors in 1971.  Judy then worked at Sioux Center Community Hospital in Sioux Center, Iowa from 1971 to 1975 as a Laboratory and X-Ray Assistant.  In 1975, she entered St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa and in 1978 completed the Registered Nursing Program with Honors in both clinical and theory.  She worked at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center from 1978 until 1984 as a Registered Nurse Critical Care Float in direct patient care with time spent in charge of 30 to 40 patients and 2 to 6 support staff. 

Judy married Jerome “Jerry” Stork on March 14, 1981 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. From 1984 until 1986 Judy transitioned to Medical Information Specialist and was responsible for staff education on new computer system writing procedure manuals for all departments resulting in successful computer implementation.  In 1986, she joined Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Sheild, Inc and worked various positions within the company including Utilization Review Nurse, Medical Underwriter, and Case Manager, leaving in 2004.  Judy joined the Mercy Home Care, Hospice of Siouxland, and Siouxland Hematology-Oncology Associates thru the next few years before ending her work history with Synergy from 2019 until December of 2022. 

Judy was a faith-driven woman, enjoying her membership to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard, Nebraska and continued her worshipping at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa once moving to Dakota Dunes, South Dakota.  She enjoyed spending time at Trinity Heights Queen of Peace in Sioux City.

Judy is survived by her brother John A. (Shirley) Schulte, Jr of Rock Rapids, Iowa; sister Janice A Schulte of North Platte, Nebraska; step-children Jim (Sandy) Stork of Hubbard, Nebraska, Jay (Terri) Stork of Bonaire, Georgia, Jeff (Ruby) Stork of Jackson, Nebraska, Lisa Stork of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jeromy (Melanie) Vedral of Sioux City, Iowa; step-grandchildren Carrie, Sarah, Dylan, Joshua, Jaimie, Jenna, Jacob, Trent, Ashley, Trevor, and Joey; 18 step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry in 2016, and son Justin “Bud” Stork.
