Judy K. Rager, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, formerly of Jackson, NE, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Friday, October 6, 2023.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson, NE. Burial will be held in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in South Sioux City, NE immediately following the funeral. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Judy was born on September 9th, 1946, in Sioux City, IA, the 12th of 15 children to Ambrose and Nellie (Broderick) Beacom. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Emerson, NE and went on to attend Capitol Beauty School in Omaha, NE. Judy married Frank Rager on May 25th, 1968, in Waterbury, NE.
After providing in-home daycare for many years, Judy worked at Aalfs Manufacturing and Pech Optical before retiring in 2014. She enjoyed baking and playing cards with her family. Judy loved having her house full of grandchildren for sleepovers, everyday visits, and holidays. You could find Judy tending to flowers and crafting during her free time.
She is survived by four children: 3 daughters, Tina (Dennis) Rickett, Kerri (Shawn) Wiese, and Michelle (Corey) Rager; and son Dan (Nicki) Rager; grandchildren, Bryson and Brenden Irwin, Dillon, Alex (Kortni), and Shelby Rickett, and Gavin Rager; three brothers: Jim (Mary Ann) Beacom, Pat (Janet) Beacom, Terry (Marlene) Beacom; five sisters: Mary Jane Mello, Alana (Vince) Kuhn, Arlene Whipple, Jeanne Bourgeois, and Corrine (Dennis) Hogan; and in-laws Janet (Lavern) Lutjen, Tom (Janet) Rager and William Magnuson; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Michael; grandson, Nathan Irwin; parents, Ambrose & Nellie; three brothers, Darrell, Neal, and Tim Beacom; three sisters, Carol Ann, Dorothy, and Peggy Beacom; brothers-in-law: Ed Mello, Charles “Bill” Whipple, William “Bill” Bourgeois, Bob Rager, Rob Richards, Ervin Peters and Kenny Lutjen; and sisters-in-law, Mary “Mert” Beacom, Maggie Beacom, Betty Jane Richards, Mary Magnuson, Emmy Peters, and JoAnn Rager; and father-and-mother-in law, Frank & Ida Mae (Case) Rager.
