Judith M. “Judy” Ward, 83 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away peacefully Thursday, February 16, 2023. A memorial mass will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Holy Cross Parish Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City. To view the service online please visit or 

Judy was a woman of deep faith who raised a loving family, largely on her own, and managed a successful career as a realtor. She was a loving mother to five children, Pat Ward of Albuquerque, NM, Tim Ward (Jessica) of Dakota Dunes, Scott Ward (Leah) of Dakota Dunes, SD, Sara Ward Keese (Jay) of Alexandria, VA and Jennifer Ward Rich (Sean) of Bainbridge Island, WA. Her beloved grandchildren include: Erin, Sarah, Joseph, Allison (Alex), Jack, Christian, Harrison, Lila, Katie, Caroline, William, Grace, Ryan and Harper.

Born August 25, 1939 to Joseph and Sarah (Porter) Clark, Judy spent most of her life in Siouxland. “People from Iowa are just nice,” she said recently recalling a life well lived in the heartland. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1957 and attended the University of South Dakota. She was active in her church, Junior League and community organizations like the Chamber of Commerce. 

Judy was a joyful person and a good friend to many. She had weekly lunches with her girlfriends for many years. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Judy enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing with her dogs and being in the sunshine at Lake Okoboji.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband David Brownlee, her parents, siblings and in-laws, Joan and Ty Fideler, Bob and Mary Clark and her first husband, Jim Ward.
