Joyce Darlene Moore, age 97, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026. Services for Joyce will be on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Following the service, burial will take place in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Joyce was born on March 19, 1929, to Harry and Irene Adams. She grew up in Bronson, Iowa, where she met her future husband, Earl Moore. Joyce graduated from Bronson High School and later from Iowa State University majoring in Home Economics. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She was engaged to her Sigma Nu fraternity love, Earl, under the Campanile on the campus of Iowa State. This led to a marriage of 74 years.

After graduation, they moved to Beemer, Nebraska where they both taught school. After moving to Sioux City in 1954, Joyce spent her remaining years in Leeds, Iowa. She was a substitute teacher in Sioux City Schools for many years.

She was a lifelong member of Wesley Methodist Church, a member of PEO Chapter KE, Bard of Avon, and a longtime volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Travel with Earl was a big part of her life, traveling to over 35 countries. She also enjoyed summer camping trips to Sibley State Park for 70 years plus with family and friends. They were loyal Morningside University fans, attending many campus events.

Joyce and Earl took pride in their home, yard, beautiful flowers and abundant garden. In later years they especially enjoyed helping caterpillars become Monarch butterflies.

Their winter months were spent in Bonita Springs, Florida, with many of her snowbird friends. While in Florida, they were weekly volunteers at the Community Congregational Church thrift store.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Terry (Jim) Spranger of Bettendorf, Iowa; her son, Steve, of Bronson; and her daughter, Kim (Brian) Linafelter of Sioux City. Grandchildren Eria Johnson; Seth (Brooke) Gackle; Meghan (Ross) Heaton; Bret (Michelle) Spranger; and Rene (Channen) Smith. Great grandchildren River, Indigo, Gogo, Avery, McKinlee, Hayden, Vada, Zoe, and Schuyler.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Earl.
