Joshua Lowell Horsley, 31, left our world far too soon on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, after suffering injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident. He was a shining light in the lives of those who knew him, with a spirit resonated deeply and a heart that embraced all around him.
A memorial gathering will be held to honor Joshua's life on October 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. It is there that all who were graced by his presence can come together to celebrate a life so beautifully lived.
Josh was born on September 20, 1993, Sioux City, the son of Larry Jr. and Karen (Hallbauer) Horsley. He graduated from West High School.
Josh was a one of kind man, quiet and humble. He always helped others before himself, his love for friends and family was unmatched. His kindness and selflessness were evident to those who were lucky enough to be in his circle.
While working in Moville, Josh met Paige Hofstatter and the two resided in Moville at the time of his passing. Josh and Paige were the ideal match made in Heaven and by all accounts he was the Jack to Paige’s Sally, his love for Paige was the forefront of his existence. He was sure that Paige was his forever companion, together they enjoyed the Magic the Gathering card game (he wanted to teach Paige how to play), gaming, anime, and most importantly their love for their cats. The two were building a life together and he was so excited and nervous and as Josh would say, “I’m so ready to be a dad!” As the two are expecting a baby in January. His love for Paige and his friends will be forever carried on through his new baby.
To his family, he was a cherished son, brother, and partner. Joshua is survived by his devoted mother, Karen Horsley of Wakefield, his sister Jessica Horsley and her husband Jayce of Wakefield, and his brother Zachary Horsley, of Sioux City. His nieces and nephew: Prudence, Vylot, Ryder, Danni, and Ronni. He also shared a profound bond with his girlfriend, the love of his life, Paige Hofstatter, whose warmth was matched by the loving presence of her parents, Jim and Linda Hofstatter. The ripples of his love extend infinitely through many extended family members and friends, each soul touched by his kindness and authenticity.
Though he faced the loss of his father, Larry Horsley Jr., and brothers Christopher and Blake Horsley, Joshua's memory will forever be enshrined in the hearts of those left behind. His laughter, his compassion, and his remarkable ability to be an amazing friend will echo in the tales shared and the memories cherished.
