Joshua E. Eldridge

December 9, 1973 — April 9, 2025

Sioux City, Iowa

Joshua Eugene Eldridge, affectionately known as Josh, was born on December 9, 1973, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Scott and Diane (Veldhuizen) Eldridge. Josh grew up in Sioux City, where he began his education at Lincoln Elementary, continued through Hoover Jr. High, and proudly graduated from West High School in 1992. His thirst for knowledge led him to further his studies at Iowa State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminal justice, graduating in May of 1997.

In his earlier years, Josh worked at Fareway and Hy-Vee Grocery Stores, displaying an admirable work ethic and a commitment to his responsibilities. After completing his education, he dedicated himself to the family business, Square Tire. In 1998, he moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, to manage the Square Tire Shop and later returned to the Siouxland area, making his home in North Sioux City and recently in Sioux City. Josh took great pride in his work, often demonstrating his vast knowledge by recalling tire numbers from memory, a testament to his dedication and expertise.

Beyond his career, Josh had a fondness for nature and outdoor activities. He cherished camping adventures shared with both sets of his grandparents, a time that allowed him to bond with his family and enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors. He found joy in his zero-turn mower, taking great pride in maintaining a well-kept yard. His interests extended to various hobbies that included skateboarding, water skiing, snow skiing, cars, and dogs, along with pursuing air pilot training. These activities highlighted his zest for life and adventure.

Tragically, Josh had been missing since October 31, 2024, and was discovered deceased on April 9, 2025. His unexpected passing has left a profound void in the lives of those who loved him.

Josh is survived by his parents, Scott Eugene and Diane Eldridge; two brothers, Tyler James Eldridge (Cassie Frimann) of Ozark, Arkansas, and Ross Eldridge (Morgan) of Orange City, Iowa; and one sister, Paige Eldridge (Corey Feese) of North Sioux City, South Dakota. He is also survived by his maternal grandfather, James Veldhuizen of Orange City, Iowa; and aunts and uncles: Patti Stricklin of Forest Hill, Maryland; Jodie Solomon (Craig) of Sioux City, Iowa; Tiana Hodgins (Ben) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Sue Johnson (Neil) of Paullina, Iowa, along with numerous cousins and many friends from school, work, and through Alcoholics Anonymous.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maurice Eugene and Helen Eldridge, and his grandmother, Martha Hubbling Veldhuizen.

A visitation to honor his memory will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Peace Reformed Church in Sioux City, Iowa, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Private burial will take place at Logan Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may directed to Josh's family and they will designate them at a later date.
