Joseph "Joe" Garrett Dunn

June 18, 1979 — December 7, 2025

Sioux City, Iowa

Joseph “Joe” Garrett Dunn, age 46, passed away on December 7, 2025, surrounded by love and family, after courageously battling lymphoma for more than three years. He was born on June 18, 1979 in Ojai, California, and from the moment he arrived, Joe brought light, humor, and warmth into every life he touched.

Joe attended Casa Robles High School in Orangevale, Calif. Joe graduated cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in educational studies from Buena Vista University in 2023. His dream was to one day work with at-risk youth. He approached every job he ever held with passion, gratitude, and heart. Most recently, he worked at Jolly Time Popcorn, a place he was proud to be a part of.

Joe had a zest for life that was impossible to miss which carried over into his love for sports. He coached baseball and softball with enthusiasm and cared deeply for the kids he worked with. He was a die-hard Miami Dolphins fan and was excited to watch the Dodgers win the World Series this year.

Joe lived life fully and fearlessly, embodying positivity even in the hardest moments. He was warm, generous, and endlessly social—a true people person who could make anyone feel seen, welcomed, and valued.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Adrienne Dunn, and his children Noah Stevens, Ethan Stevens, Gabrielle Jansen, Reid Jansen, Alaina Jansen, and Courtney Dunn. He is also survived by his mother Marian Potter, stepfather Leon Potter, and his siblings Jason Dunn-Potter (Loretta), Shannon Perez (Marcus), Becca Rodriguez (Antonio), and Vicki Uroff (Bryan). He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dunn, and his maternal grandfather Cecil Evans. Joe’s circle of friends was vast, devoted, and truly too numerous to list—he had a remarkable way of becoming everyone’s best friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic in Joe’s honor.

Joe will be profoundly missed, but his kindness, humor, and joy will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
