JoLenne Joan Nelson

JoLenne Joan (Burnham) Hanson Nelson, 88, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at a local care center.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Private burial in Randolph, NE will be held at a later date.

JoLenne was born June 8, 1937, in Gregory, SD, the eldest of two children born to Willis and Melba (Ward) Burnham. She and her brother Paul were raised on a farm near Millboro, SD and attended the Methodist Church and grade school. JoLenne attended high school in Winner, SD, graduating in 1955. She was married to Donald Hanson, and the couple had four children and later divorced. She married Terry F. Nelson on July 25, 1969, and to this union, two children were born. JoLenne attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City and received her RN degree in 1991. She enjoyed her nursing career for close to 35 years. She moved to Pioneer Valley Living in Sergeant Bluff in June of 2022, until her passing.

JoLenne is survived by her children: KimBerly (Kelly) Hansen of Carroll, NE, Jil McCorkindale and friend Curt, Don “Mark” and fiancé Jolene Lueth both of Sioux City, Troy (Rhonda) Nelson of South Sioux City, and TJ (Jamie) Nelson of Staplehurst, NE; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and her friend Payne Sargisson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willis (July 1980) and Melba (July 2002), beloved son Van (August 2013), and brother Paul (March 2005).
