John J. Reinhardt

John J. Reinhardt, 77 of Sergeant Bluff passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, November 12, 2023. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 17, 2023 at Morningside Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the church.

John was born the son of John and Lucile (Evans) Reinhardt on January 15, 1946 in Estherville, Iowa. He attended Catholic grade school before graduating from Estherville High School in 1965. On June 18, 1977 John married Colleen Natterstad in Wallingford, Iowa. John and Colleen were married for 46 years and blessed with 3 children; Andrea, Matt, and Megan.

John was employed by John Morrell for over 25 years beginning his career in Estherville before transferring to the Sioux City plant in 1985. He later worked for All Power until his retirement in 2016.

John had an exceptional work ethic that he passed along to his children. John took great pride in his work and never missed a day. Providing for his family was his joy in life. He wanted to make sure his family was well taken care of.

John enjoyed sitting outside in his lawn chair while keeping up with his friends and neighbors in the Golden Flats neighborhood. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Twins fan. He knew when every game was scheduled.

John’s greatest enjoyment was his family and spending time with them. He treasured each conversation, vacation, and family meal while also meticulously maintaining the family vehicles over the years. John was extremely close with his sister Kate. They were best friends and talked everyday until her passing in 2022.

Despite his health issues over the years, John was a fighter. He didn’t like to complain or have others worry about him. His family finds comfort knowing he has been healed and is made new again.

John is survived by his wife, Colleen Reinhardt of Sergeant Bluff, IA; children, Andrea Reinhardt of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Matt (Heather) Reinhardt of Sioux City, IA, and Megan (Alex) Pick of Sioux City, IA; and granddaughter, Addison Reinhardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathleen.

The family is especially grateful for the nurses and staff at MercyOne on 6 Post-Critical for their great care of John, especially Marisa and Jenn.
