John Philip Pavone

March 31, 1956 — August 20, 2025

Sioux City, Iowa

"A good husband. A good father. A good person."

Of all the gifts he gave to this world, there were only three things John wanted to be remembered for—and he achieved each of these with grace and devotion.

John Philip Pavone, 69, of Sioux City, Iowa, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 20, 2025.

To know John was to know passion. A dedicated provider, collector, and hobbyist. His enthusiasm for life touched everyone around him.

Originally from Trumbull, Connecticut and the youngest of 6 siblings, family was always the foundation of his happiness. Of all the things he loved, John’s family was his greatest treasure. A devoted husband to Elizabeth and a caring father to Jennifer, Laura, Little John, Lisa, and Alec, his legacy lives on through the values he instilled and the unconditional love he shared.

John was a lifelong learner who never met a challenge he wouldn't accept—including his own mortality, which he faced with characteristic courage and positivity, sustained by his faith and trust in God's plan.

John is preceded in death by his father Emmanuel, his mother Helen, his sister Sharon, and his son Little John. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; his children Jennifer, Laura, Lisa, and Alec; his grandchildren Christopher, Bailee, Lila, and Miles; his great-grandchild Barron, and his siblings Nancy, Daniel, Richard, and Peter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in John's honor.

A Visitation with the family will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Stone Park Boulevard in Sioux City, Iowa from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, August 25 at 9:00 a.m., with burial services immediately to follow.
