John Robert Iversen

John R. Iversen, 83 of Sioux City passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvA4h9-XFUE

John was born in Rapid City, South Dakota. He came to Sioux City in 1943 with parents Harry and Gertrude Iversen and older sister Margerite “Margie”. He attended Immaculate Conception grade school and Heelan High School. After graduation, he worked as an apprentice at the Sioux City Journal until he entered the United States Army. He served his country from 1961-1969. During that time he had deployments to Vietnam and Germany. In Germany he met and married his wife, Ursala. They had three children, John, Carol, and Robert.

He had a knack for fixing things and started his own business, JRI Enterprises.

John is survived by his children; sister, Theresa (Tom) Rouse; brother, Mark (Vanessa) Iversen; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard; sisters, Margie, MJ, and Judith; brothers, George, James, and Chris.
