John Michael Fluharty

John Michael Fluharty, 59, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on October 21, 2022.  Per his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services.  Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

John was born on September 21, 1963 in Weirton, West Virginia to Charles W. and Carolyn Jean (Schrader) Fluharty.  He graduated from Weir Senior High and entered into the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged.  John was employed at WestRock for a number of years.  He was united in marriage to Darcee McElwain in 2008.  He enjoyed watching sports, playing softball, bowling with his son, having bonfires and spending time with his friends and family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Darcee Fluharty; children: Eric Fluharty, Jessica Fluharty (Vince Stroman), step-daughter, Sarah Kyrazies; siblings: Pamela (Ron) Drennan, Charlotte (Wayne Burt) Fluharty, William Fluharty, Timothy (Katie) Fluharty, and Katie Fluharty; nieces and nephews: William, Terri, Scott, April, Holly, Jacob, Aaron, Matthew, Stephanie, and Samantha; and several great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Richard Fluharty.
