John Myrland Croy, 73 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Kingsley Specialty Care Facility. A Celebration of Life Service, with Military Honors, will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. John was born on December 21, 1950 in Onawa, Iowa to Myrland D. and Deloris M. (Lukken) Croy. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa with the Class of 1969. John served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, receiving the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received his honorable discharge in 1971.
John worked as a United States Postal Carrier before joining the Iron Worker’s Union #21 in Sioux City, Iowa, and made his career as an Iron Worker. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, and married Roxanne Schneider in August of 1987. John enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid sports fan.
John is survived by his daughter Caley Croy (fiancé Phillip Rhodes); two granddaughters Blake Violet Rhodes and Piper Mae Rhodes; sister Nancy Jasper; and close friend Bari Ehlers.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David Croy and Richard Croy.
