On August 11th, 2026, a mass at 10:30, followed by his burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, South Sioux City, NE.

John was born in Dakota City, NE on January 13th, 1935 to Daniel and Marie Cahill. John is preceded in death by his wife Marcia “Peni” Kiser Cahill, his parents, and his siblings Daniel, Helen, Mary Ann, and Jim. He is survived by his children: Michael, Jill (Steve) Skinner, Mark, Matthew; his grandchildren Morgan (Mac) Carter, Holly Skinner, Christian Skinner; his great grandchildren Grayson and Landon Carter; his sister Jo (Bud) Cain and many other family and friends.

This was Dad’s constant prayer this year: Thank you, Lord Jesus, for loving me so much that you choose to suffer and die on the cross, paying the price for all my sins, forgiving me and promising me eternal life in you. Thank you for taking care of me for 91 years. Lord, please bring me to your perfect heaven as soon as possible. Please fill me with your peace and joy for each day I live on earth.

Dad left a legacy of love, generosity, kindness, diligence, and integrity that we, his family, aspire to pass on through our lives. Dad lived an amazing life and we will continue to tell his stories of flying jets for Uncle Sam, “John T’ing” anything that needs to be fixed and countless stories of him helping others.
